道十八 - Tao Chapter 18

故大道废 案有仁义

知慧出 案有大伪

六亲不和 案有孝慈

邦家昏乱 案有贞臣

当已经成型的大方向（道路）被废弃的时候，社会自发的道德约束（仁义）就凸显出来（摆上台面）。当意识到智慧差异性的出现，巨大的人为成就也就凸显出来。当六亲不和睦的时候，奉养和慈爱也就凸显出来。家国发展不明朗、各种方向错综复杂混乱不堪，侍奉上位者但仍然能坚守“正”道的就凸显出来了。

When the established direction (path) is abandoned, the society's spontaneous moral constraint (benevolence and righteousness) will come to the fore. When the difference in wisdom is realized, great human achievements also become apparent. When the six relatives are not harmonious, filial piety and love will also become apparent. When the development of the country and family is not clear, and various directions are complex and chaotic, those who can still adhere to the "correct" path while serving the ruling class will come to the fore.
